For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, 62% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 3 reading. At the provincial level 73% of students did.  50% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 3 writing. At the provincial level 65% of students did.  78% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 6 reading.  At the provincial level 84% of students did.   76% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 6 writing.    At the provincial level 84% of students did.  72% of first-time eligible Algoma District School Board students were successful on the OSSLT.   At the provincial level 85% of first-time eligible students were successful on the OSSLT. For the 2023-2024 Academic Year, 61% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 3 reading. At the provincial level 71% of students did.  51% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 3 writing. At the provincial level 64% of students did.  72% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 6 reading.  At the provincial level 82% of students did.   65% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 6 writing.    At the provincial level 80% of students did.  73% of first-time eligible Algoma District School Board students were successful on the OSSLT.   At the provincial level that was 85%.

Measure: % of students graduating with an OSSD within five years of starting Grade 9. 

Includes students who began Grade 9 in 2018-2019 and tracks their progress until 2022-2023. 

For the 2021-2022 Academic Year, 76% of Algoma District School Board students graduated with an OSSD within 5 years of starting grade 9.  At the provincial level that number was 89.1%.  For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, 76.8% of Algoma District School Board students graduated with an OSSD within 5 years of starting grade 9. At the provincial level 89.5% of students graduated with an OSSD within 5 years of starting grade 9. This includes students who began Grade 9 in 2018-2019 and tracks their progress until 2022-2023.

Measure: % of students in Grades 4-12 who were suspended at least once.  

For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, 6.963% of Algoma District School Board students in grades 4 to 12 were suspended at least once.  At the provincial level that was 4.06%. For the 2023-2024 Academic Year, 7.27% of Algoma District School Board students in grades 4 to 12 were suspended at least once.  At the provincial level that was 4.18%.

Measure: % of students who earn 16 or more credits by the end of Grade 10 

For the 202-2023 Academic Year, 70% of Algoma District School Board students earned 16 or more credits by the end of grade 10.   At the provincial level 78% of students did. For the 23/24 school year, 73% of Algoma District School Board students earned 16 or more credits by the end of grade 10.  At the provincial level that was 78%.

Measure: % of students in Grades 1-8 whose individual attendance rate is equal to or greater than 90 percent

For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, 43.2% of Algoma District School Board students in grades 1 to 8 whose individual attendance rate is equal to or greater than 90%.  At the provincial level that number was 55%. For the 2023-2024 Academic Year, 50.6% of Algoma District School Board students in grades 1 to 8 whose individual attendance rate is equal to or greater than 90%.  At the provincial level that number was 59.9%.

Goal: Improve students' math learning and achievement

Measure: % of students enrolled in at least one Grade 12 math or Grade 11 or 12 science courses

For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, 45.4% of Algoma District School Board students enrolled in at least one grade 12 math or grade 11 or 12 science courses. at the provincial level that number was 58.9%.    For the 2023-2024 Academic Year, 42.6% of Algoma District School Board students enrolled in at least one grade 12 math or grade 11 or 12 science courses. at the provincial level that number was 57.9%.

Goal: Improve student well-being 

Measure: % of students who met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO Assessments for Grade 3/6/9 Math 

For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, 46% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 3 math.  At the provincial level 60% of students did.  34% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 6 math.  At the provincial level 50% of students did.  36% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 9 math.  At the provincial level 54% of students did. For the 2023-2024 Academic Year, 50% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 3 math.  At the provincial level 61% of students did.  36% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 6 math.  At the provincial level 50% of students did.  32% of Algoma District School Board students met or exceeded the provincial standard on EQAO assessments for grade 9 math.  At the provincial level 54% of students did.

Measure: % of students participating in at least one job skills program (Specialist High Skills Major, Dual Credits or Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program)

For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, 29% of Algoma District School Board students participated in at least one job skills program for instance specialist High skills major dual credits or Ontario use apprenticeship program. at the provincial level that number was  23%. For the 2023-2024 Academic Year, 30% of Algoma District School Board students participated in at least one job skills program for instance specialist High skills major dual credits or Ontario use apprenticeship program. at the provincial level that number was  26%.

Measure: % of Grade 6, 9 and 10 students who report being aware of mental health supports and services in order to seek supports for mental health

In 2023-2024 the percentage of grade 6, 9 and 10 students who reported being aware of mental health supports and services in order to seek supports for mental health was 63% at the Algoma district school board and 60% at the provincial level.  Data was not available for the 2022-2023 school year

 

Measure: % of students who believe their learning has prepared them for the next step in their learning experience (i.e. next grade, post secondary, etc)  

In the 2022/2023 Academic Year, data was not available at the school board or provincial level to determine  the percentage of students who believe their learning has prepared them for the next step in their learning experience. In the 2023-2024 academic school year 58% of Algoma district school board students felt their learning has prepared them for the next step in their learning experience for instance next grade and post secondary while at the provincial level this was 63%.

Intentional (Explicit) Instruction & Intervention informed by data - classroom teachers, alongside instructional leaders, will utilize a variety of assessment data/tools to inform their daily instruction (ADSB Tools/Programs/Resources: Acadience reading screening tool, Heggerty: phonemic awareness [K-2], UFLI/The Phonics Companion: Strand B [K-3], decodable texts, Knoweldgehook, number routines, MathUP, manipulatives)

 

Small Group Instruction - classroom teachers, alongside instructional leaders, will utilize assessment data to create groups to provide targetted instruction and feedback

Principals provided explicit direction to ensure attendance is accurate and to implement the ADSB Attendance Procedures Manual.


ADSB System Attendance Lead & Re-Engagement Attendance Coaches to support families and schools in re-engaging persistent non-attending students.

 

Implementation of Complex Response Table and other efforts to coordinate Board resources in support of students with multiple suspensions.
Review Individual Education Plans and Support Plans with school staff in support of strategies and mitigating behaviours to avoid suspensions.
Monthly review of suspension data to inform strategies to reduce suspensions.

 

Reinforce professional learning and resources from School Mental Health Ontario in support of Tier 1 strategies and promoting positive learning environments, and implementation of mental health learning modules in grades 7, 8 and 10.
School and Attendance Counselors will participate in individual classroom visits in grade 6, in grade 9 physical an health education classes and grade 10 Careers classes, to further reinforce their role to support positive student mental health, and share pathways to additional student mental health supports.
